Silverfish

Silverfish are considered a nuisance pest that can damage valuables such as books, photographs, clothes, carpet and contaminate stored food with their droppings. They are often associated with moist and humid environments and it is always best to call a professional pest controller to ensure the safe and effective eradication of silverfish.

Treatment process for silverfish

  • Inspection/assessment by the technician to identify the active areas and level of infestation.
  • A residual insecticide is applied as a fine mist to internal skirting boards, cupboards, wardrobes, cracks and crevices
  • Dust containing an IGR (insect growth regulator) is applied to areas where silverfish hide such as roof voids to ensure they are exposed to the treatment and to disrupt the lifecycle.
  • Preventative recommendations will be provided by your technician on the day to protect your property against future infestations.

All of our chemical practices/treatments under our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program are approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). Where possible, Petrie’s Pest Control aims to use non-chemical treatments and provide alternate recommendations to our customers to help protect their homes and businesses against unwanted pests.
