Fleas

Fleas can pose a significant risk to the safety of your family and pets carrying disease and becoming a nuisance very quickly. Fleas are often difficult to get rid of due to their long lifecycle and may require multiple visits over a period of months to completely eliminate.

Treatment process for Fleas

  • Inspection/assessment by the technician to identify the affected areas and level of infestation.
  • A residual insecticide with an IGR (insect growth regulator), is applied as a light blanket spray to all internal areas of the property including carpets, rugs, floorboards and other flea prone areas. This disrupts the flea life cycle preventing them from developing into adult fleas.
  • The same will be applied to outdoor areas including your yard, garden beds and subfloor if applicable. Focusing on areas where your pet plays and rests.
  • Prior to the treatment we require the home owner to mow all lawns, vacuum internal floors thoroughly which helps remove adult fleas, larvae, eggs and dispose of vacuum bag, wash all pet bedding and fabrics, wash all hard floors and remove any pets from the premises. Pets should also be treated on the same day with a suitable flea treatment.
  • Preventative recommendations will be provided by your technician on the day to protect your property against future infestations.

All of our chemical practices/treatments under our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program are approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA). Where possible, Petrie’s Pest Control aims to use non-chemical treatments and provide alternate recommendations to our customers to help protect their homes and businesses against unwanted pests.
